Root maggot fly (Botanophila fugax)

This root maggot fly (?Botanophila fugax) knew that danger lurked in the bluebells of Chiswick House Gardens.

This anthomyiidae fly has a grey-striped thorax and black legs. It has characteristically long hairs arising from the thorax

Lurking in the background is a crab spider, which did not get to eat the fly.
