I LOVE ELEPHANTS, Koh Samui

Back to Thailand for a first post-COVID trip to Asia. The trip included visiting ILOVEELEPHAMTSAMUI, a charity that looks after retired working elephants. Spending time with two elephants was well worth the effort. We fed, walked, washed, and scrubbed two elephants.

They were not forced to do tricks and live in a beautiful compound full of banana trees and other vegetation. Pang Pang was our irrepressible guide and helped us prepare healthy snacks for the elephants. She also explained how the charity kept going during the COVID pandemic, thanks to the generosity of their staff. They use elephant poo to make paper, which they sell. The proceeds are used to buy food and medical supplies for the elephants.
