Buddha is believed to have said, “It is better to travel well than to arrive<\/a>“. This may be a Zen metaphor for life. Enjoy the journey, and do not focus all your attention on arriving at your final destination. Many religions try to make you do just that by getting you to focus on the afterlife. While there is nothing wrong with contemplating what happens to you at the end of the journey, make sure you make the best of the journey while you can.<\/p>\n

Here<\/a>, you will find images taken on my journey through life<\/a> and pictures that my father and grandfather took on their journeys.<\/p>\n

I have been lucky to have visited North America, South America, most European countries, Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia and the Far East. My camera has travelled with me and captured images along the way. The ‘My Places<\/a>‘ page contains a map with a clickable marker for every page on this site. You can also select by region.<\/p>\n

Both my paternal grandparents and my father also travelled extensively, and I have included many of their photographs. Augustine Frost, my grandfather, took the earliest pictures on this site in China in 1906. I have colorised some of these early photographs, which helps bring them to life. The quality of my more recent pictures is better than that of my earlier images, as digital camera technology has improved significantly over the past ten years.<\/p>\n

Divine Highways<\/strong><\/h2>\n

I have written an account of a long jorney made in 1987 in a book that can be purchased on Amazon: “Divine Highways”<\/a><\/p>\n

“Abandoning his plan to search for his family’s roots in India, Chris Frost decides instead to set out on a journey across Pakistan and China in 1987. Along the way, he encounters priests, pagans, evangelists, mullahs, mujahideen fighters, Islamic extremists and lamas. Enduring sickness, earthquakes, car crashes, encounters with big cats, and a bloody riot in Tibet, Chris takes the reader on a wild ride across Asia at a time when the world was on the cusp of change. The Russians were still fighting in Afghanistan; China’s economic boom had barely started and the Internet was in its infancy.”<\/p>\n
