From Chitral, my route took me into China along the Karakoram Highway via Gilgit and Kashgar. Crossing China, I picked up a steamer in Shanghai that was sailing to Hong Kong. From, there I slipped back into China - travelling to Chengdu, and thence to Lhasa by plane. Three months later, I crossed the Friendship Bridge into Nepal. From Kathmandu, it was just a hop and a skip to Thailand, and then again onwards to California via Hawaii The travelling did not stop then - I was soon working in Europe, South America, North America and the Middle East. There were a few years when the camera stayed at home - but mostly the camera came too... |
