The summer of 2005 found Schweboo & Co in Sri Lanka. Starting at Negombo on the coast, we moved inland passing through ancient cities, temples and fortresses.
Leaving our driver to travel by road, we transferred to a train that carried us up into the highlands carpeted with plantations of tea and coniferous woods.

Kandy - Sri Lanka’s ancient capital - drew us into the spectacle of Perahera, during which Schweboo & Co watched the procession of elephants, musicians, dancers and attendants and were captured by the spell of this ancient tradition. The light of the braziers on the dancing elephants reflected in the spellbound eyes of the children. The sound of the drums and pipes will echo through their dreams for a long time to come. |
